Admissions Process

1. Phone Conference

The admissions process starts with a phone conference and interview with the parents/guardians.

2. Application

The next step is the submission of an application form accompanied by the non-refundable application fee and a signed request for transcript and teacher recommendations forms and/or copies of other records as applicable.

3. Interview

After making application, you will be contacted to schedule an interview. Toddlers accompany parents/guardians in an interview with an administrator or toddler teacher; Primary children visit a classroom without parents/guardians for thirty minutes up to two full days depending on the child’s age and previous nursery school experience; and elementary children visit a classroom without parents/guardians for one or two full days.

Applications for enrollment are evaluated for a child’s potential for success in a Montessori classroom for his/her age group. It is important that the parents/guardians’ educational philosophy and expectations for the school are compatible with that of Mastro Montessori academy. Children must demonstrate age-appropriate behavior that is fundamental to Montessori learning activities whether it is working independently, in small groups, or in a large group. Students entering the primary and elementary programs must also have sufficient academic knowledge for their age group. Families are asked to commit to enrolling their children through the completion of the primary program (through their kindergarten year). If families cannot sign the partnership agreement in good faith we ask that they call the office.

Programs at Mastro Montessori academy require students to function well with age-appropriate independence. All students except those entering the Toddler program (i.e., those entering the Primary Program or higher) must be independent of diapers and pull-ups, capable of getting in and out of clothing without assistance, and routinely practicing responsible bathroom habits.

Prospective parents should schedule a tour of our school by calling 732 219-5400 or via our Online Scheduling Form.
