Our History

We continue to serve the Monmouth & Ocean County areas offering the finest and most comprehensive Montessori education for children between the ages of fifteen months through age twelve.

1968

The Vincent S. Mastro Montessori Academy is founded by Mary and Vincent Guarriello.

1989

After working for Mrs. Guarriello for several years, Elizabeth Bradbury, along with her husband, Michael assumes ownership of the school.

1993

An elementary program for 6 to 12-year-olds was established

1997

Vincent S. Mastro Montessori Academy becomes a non-profit corporation, and responsibility for its operation transfers from the Bradburys to a board of trustees as part of a long-term succession plan.

2008

A toddler community for children under 2 ½ years old is established to meet the needs of the Montessori community.

2009

The Board of Trustees purchases property in Shrewsbury in order to accommodate the growing demand for a Montessori education from the toddler through elementary years.

2011

A groundbreaking ceremony is held to mark the beginning of the construction phase.

2012

Our doors open to our new home at 35 White Road in Shrewsbury.

2015

Mastro Montessori builds the first Nature “Playscape” in our area. The Playscape is designed to provide sensorial, fine & gross motor experiences for the children to encourage creative and open-ended play.

2018

Mastro Montessori Academy celebrates its 50th anniversary.

2019

Mastro Montessori Academy opens the new elementary building at 49 White Road.
